Parish Connection
Carole Bailey, Melton Borough Council's Community Co-ordinator spoke at the September Parish Council meeting
Using a consultative approach, Carole is trying to get the right services to where they are needed most within the community.
A villager survey is being created to help identify our community needs and it is hoped that it will be launched later in the month. The Parish Council have been asked to support this by letting people in our villages know about it. The survey will be online, with paper copies also available in local shops, pubs and cafés and from Melton Borough Council.
The services being looked at include:
- Rolling out digital courses (including things around cyber security) using MBC online service, job searching, applying for jobs, accessing benefits
- Melton's Physical Activity programme
- Support sessions for people who have multiple issues and need to access the Community Support Hub
- Customer Service presence for those who need to discuss something face to face with MBC but are unable to get to Parkside.
- Housing related support for MBC tenants, or those who need to join the housing register
- Events, volunteer fayres, jobs fayres, cost-of-living events, mental health awareness, safer communities events etc.
- And anything else that our rural community may need
Carole is keen to meet people in the communities and would appreciate information about local events such as coffee mornings, mum and toddler groups etc., so she can meet local residents. If you would like her to visit your event or group please get in touch with the Parish Clerk who can forward your details to her.
The attached leaflet was provided and gives some useful information
Carole's role also includes co-ordinating the Rural Food Hub Network in our area. Food hubs in the borough are located in Buckminster, Bottesford, Gaddesby, Goadby Marwood, Great Dalby, Kirby Bellars and Long Clawson and Sewstern.
